Softball's Isabelle Curry Named NJCAA D-3 Pitcher of the Week

Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute's Isabelle Curry was named the National Junior College Athletic Association Division Three Softball Pitcher of the Week for April 1-7.

Curry went 3-0 as a starter and also picked up a save as Caldwell went 5-1 on the week. On Wednesday, April 3 versus Surry Community College, Curry pitched six innings allowing four runs off nine hits while striking out three in the Cobras 5-4 victory. Surry was ranked number three in NJCAA Division-Three at the time.

Curry was back in the circle at Paul D. Camp Community College on Friday, April 5, picking up both wins in a doubleheader. In game one, she pitched three innings allowing three hits and no runs while striking out four. In game two, she also pitched three innings and allowed no runs or hits while striking out four.

On Sunday against number two ranked Patrick & Henry Community College, Curry started and got a no decision in game one, pitching eight scoreless innings while allowing three hits and striking out 12 batters. Caldwell went on to win the game 1-0 in 11 innings. In game two with the Cobras leading 3-2 in the top of the seventh, Curry came in for the save. She inherited two runners but struck out both batters she faced to preserve the victory and doubleheader sweep for Caldwell.

For the week, Curry pitched 20 and 2/3 innings, allowed 15 hits, four runs, and struck out 25. The Cobras are now 19-13 on the season and ranked third in the latest NJCAA D-3 poll.
