Mechanical Engineering Technology

The Mechanical Engineering Technology curriculum prepares graduates for employment as technicians in the diversified mechanical and manufacturing engineering fields. Mechanical Engineering technicians assist in design, development, testing, process
design and improvement, and troubleshooting and repair of engineered systems.

CCC&TI offers several different educational programs in this area:

  • manufacturing methods and processes
  • mathematics
  • physics
  • written oral communication

Employment Outlook

The Department of Labor's Occupational Outlook Handbook states,"Overall employment of engineering technicians is expected to increase about as fast as the average for all occupations through 2014. Competitive pressures will force companies to improve and update manufacturing facilities and product designs, resulting in more jobs for engineering technicians. As technology becomes more sophisticated, employers will continue to look for technicians who are skilled in new technology and require a minimum of additional job training."
