High Performance Building Technology
Course Description
This class will focus on new construction but the concepts can be applied to
any building. The "House as a System" approach will be explained. The class will
explore the flaws in typical construction methods and how to correct them.
Students will learn about the interactions between heat flow, moisture flow,
air infiltration, HVAC systems, insulation systems, and much more. The impact of
implementing this approach is many including: lower utility bills, better indoor
air quality, improved comfort, and extended durability. This innovative new
approach allows those involved in the construction industry to put on a new pair
of glasses to fully understand how a building actually behaves and why.
