Medical Coding and Billing

This 60-hour introductory course is designed to familiarize the student with insurance programs and federal health care regulations as well as provide basic knowledge of
ICD-9 and CPT codes.  The student covers topics related to both the physicians' office and hospital coding. Course topics include an introduction to CPT, evaluation/management services, anesthesia/surgery, radiology and pathology/laboratory, medicine, ICD-9-CM introduction, ICD-9-CM guidelines and third-party reimbursements, and managed care.  Other topics include surgery coding, outpatient coding, procedure coding, diagnosis coding, anatomy, and UB-92 claim forms.
