Medical Coding

Office settingThis is an introductory course designed to familiarize students with insurance programs and federal health care regulations as well as provide basic knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT codes. Students will cover topics related to both the physicians’ office and hospital coding. Course topics include an introduction to CPT, evaluation/management services, anesthesia/surgery, radiology and pathology/laboratory, medicine, ICD-9-CM introduction, ICD-9-CM guidelines and third-party reimbursements, and managed care. Other topics include surgery coding, outpatient coding, procedure coding, diagnosis coding, anatomy, and UB-92 claim forms.

Registration Fee $175

Admission Requirements

Must take Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology and Disease Processes prior to this course.
