Notary Public Education 

Notary Public Education provides individuals with the opportunity to become or renew their standing as a Notary with the state of North Carolina. The 6-hour course meets the state guidelines for instruction. Interested applicants who meet the state qualifications can attend class in Caldwell or Watauga counties. Registration fee for the course is $50.00. Each student is required to purchase a book. Students may not share books even if they are employed by the same company or organization.

Qualifications:

  1. You must be 18 years old or older.
  2. You must be able to read, write and speak English.
  3. You must be a U.S. citizen.
  4. You must have a high school diploma or GED.
  5. You must not have been convicted of a felony in the past 10 years.
  6. You must not be on probation.

Re-commissions:

If a Notary is up for re-commission, but has not taken the Notary Publication Class in the past, the individual must take the class to be re-commissioned by the state. They will not be grand fathered in.
