WHO WE ARE

TRIO/Student Support Services (TRIO/SSS)is a federally funded program granted by the U.S. Department of Education. The program provides opportunities that are aimed at enhancing students' academic development, assisting students with their academic progress, and motivating students toward successful completion of their college education.

OUR MISSION

The mission of TRIO/SSS is to enhance and enrich students' lives and their experiences at CCC&TI.

Specifically, TRIO will provide:

  • A connection with other people and opportunities for involvement on campus and in the community.
  • Academic and personal support through counseling, advising, and tutoring.
  • Assistance with the college transfer process.
  • Opportunities to participate in cultural enrichment activities, events, and trips.

WHO QUALIFIES?

Complete an application, and ensure that you meet one pr more of the following criteria:

  • Pell Grant recipient or other financial need as defined by TRIO
  • First-generation status(neither parent has a bachelor's degree)
  • Have a documented disability such as but not limited to ADHD, learning disability, anxiety, etc.

We are here to enrich your experience as a CCC&TI Student and be with you every step of the way towards success!

YEAR ONE IN TRIO

Each semester you will meet your program counselor twice and complete at least two program activities, workshop group session, cultural trip/event or a college transfer trip.

YEAR TWO AND BEYOND IN TRIO

You will complete one of the following options each semester:

  1. Meet with your counselor once each semester and complete at least one program activity per semester.
  2. Meet with your program counselor for two counseling session per semester.

COUNSELING

Counseling sessions are a very important part of the services offered in TRIO/SSS. Counseling discussions are held individually and occasionally in a group setting. Many TRIO student are experiencing college life for the first time and these sessions prove to be extremely beneficial to students. Special efforts to encourage, inspire, and strengthen student's academic performance is a high priority for the TRIO staff. Your education and the steps you take to better your self and those around you in invaluable and priceless. Deciding to continue your education and work towards your personal goals is a huge decision and one that we are here to support! Every year I am humbled and blessed by the students I am privileged to work with in TRIO. The TRIO staff wants to engage with you, and build a relationship and connections with you. Our desire is seeing you succeed personally, academically, and professionally. We promote a familial and supportive environment and utilize the TRIO Center as a home-base for students. I am excited your are interested in TRIO, or have joined, and look forward to supporting your throughout your college experience here at CCC&TI.
