G. Lewis Bernhardt Scholarship
Endowed in March 2003, the G. Lewis Bernhardt Scholarship is reserved for a graduating TRIO/ETS senior who plans to study at CCC&TI.
George Lewis Bernhardt was a lifelong resident of Caldwell County and a graduate of Lenoir High School and Davidson College. Mr. Bernhardt served during World War II with the Navy Seabees in Iceland and the Pacific. After the war, he returned to Lenoir to serve as manager of the building supply division of the family-owned Bernhardt-Seagle Company. Within the community, Mr. Bernhardt distinguished himself as a tennis champion/instructor and a benefactor of many causes. He died in September 2002.
The G. Lewis Bernhardt Scholarship is a testament to the generosity of Mr. Bernhardt and to the positive impact on Caldwell County youth that is envisioned for TRIO/ETS.
Each TRIO/ETS senior who plans to attend CCC&TI is invited in the spring of his/her senior year to apply for the G. Lewis Bernhardt Scholarship. The scholarship provides financial support roughly equivalent to four semesters of tuition at CCC&TI. Download the G. Lewis Bernhardt Scholarship Application (requires Adobe Reader).
