Michelle Colvard - Local Business Owner

“I do credit my education at CCC&TI for a lot of the success I have had ... I learned so much and apply it to my daily operations here.”

Michelle Colvard, Caldwell County native, is a devoted wife and mom to two teenage boys. And while that’s enough to keep any woman busy, Michelle also finds time to run a successful small business of which she is both co-owner and President. Colvard attended CCC&TI while also working full-time just after high school graduation but says she was unable toMichelle Colvardfinish her degree. When the company she worked for relocated her to nearby Hickory, she says she was dissatisfied with the move and decided it was the right time to finish her degree. Colvard returned to CCC&TI in 2001 and graduated in the Spring of 2003 with her Associates of Applied Science in Business Administration.

Colvard says that in early 2004, the opportunity arose for her and her husband to purchase Anything Office, a Lenoir-based office supply company. The couple took ownership on January 26, 2004 and now, Colvard serves as the President of the company and her husband, the Vice-President. “It has been such a blessing,” she says. “It is hard work everyday to be a small independent business in today’s market but I could not imagine doing anything else and wonder some days how I got here and why I am so blessed.”

Colvard says she credits much of her success and business knowledge to the education she received at CCC&TI. “I do credit my education at CCC&TI for a lot of the success I have had with operating my business. I learned so much and apply it to my daily operations here.” Since graduating from CCC&TI, Colvard has returned to take courses through CCC&TI’s Institute for Sustainable Technology and is using what’s she learned to improve her business
