Graduation Checklist

  • Meet with Your Advisor
    The semester prior to your degree completion, meet with your academic advisor to review your academic progress.
  • Review Graduation Requirements
  • Confirm Transcripts Have Been Received
    Make sure CCC&TI has all official High School and College transcripts from any institutions you have attended.
  • Apply For Graduation
    Complete Graduation Application online through WebAdvisor-Self Service the semester before anticipated completion date. (Log into Portal (MyCCCTI) > WebAdvisor-Self Service > WebAdvisor for Students > Academic Profile > Graduation)
  • Pay Graduation Fee
    Payment is required to process your graduation application. If you completed the application online, you must pay the fee through WebAdvisor-Self Service. If you complete the application in Student Services, you must pay the fee in the Business Office.
  • Complete Survey
    Complete the graduation survey, which will be emailed to you after the submission of your graduation application.
  • All monetary obligations to CCC&TI must be paid in full.
  • Pick up Cap, Gown and Tickets
    On designated dates.
  • Complete Program
    Students must complete all required courses within their curriculum program as published in their catalog of record.
  • Attend Rehearsal
  • Attend Graduation Ceremony in May
  • Receive Degree, Diploma, and/or Certificate
    Your degree, diploma and/or certificate will be mailed to you within 4-6 weeks after the last day of the semester.

Graduation Ceremonies

Congratulations on your prospective graduation! Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute's commencement exercises are inspirational and impressive. The faculty and staff strongly encourage you to attend. Even though graduation is symbolic, we believe your presence is a gift to the faculty and staff, your family, friends, and to yourself.

Curriculum 1 (5 PM) participation and Curriculum 2 (8 PM) participation is determined based upon applications by program and will be determined prior to cap and gown distribution.

Cap and Gown Pickup

PICKING UP YOUR CAP AND GOWN WILL BE OUR INDICATION THAT YOU ARE PLANNING TO ATTEND THE GRADUATION CEREMONY. Graduation Announcements and Guest Tickets will be distributed when caps and gowns are picked up.

Graduates must pick up for their caps and gowns at the following times:

Caldwell Campus

1st Floor of the Forlines Building Student ID is required for pick up. ID’s can be made in the LRC.

If you have applied for a certificate only, you must have paid the graduation application fee to be able to participate in the ceremony.

Additional information concerning your graduation time, rehearsal, and your role in graduation will be given to you when you pick up your cap and gown.

Graduation FAQs

  • Why must students apply for graduation before they complete their final exams?
    • By applying early, it allows Student Services time to review your progress and make sure you are definitely in line to complete your program.
  • How does the college know that I will definitely attend the graduation ceremony at the J.E. Broyhill Civic Center?
    • Picking up your cap and gown will be our indication that you will attend the ceremony.
  • If I have applied for a certificate only, am I able to participate in the May graduation ceremony?
    • Yes, however, you must have paid the graduation application fee.
  • How will I be notified about graduation information?
    • Along with information provided on the website, we will email you through your CCC&TI email account beginning in March. We will also mail information to the mailing address we currently have on file.
  • Who should I contact if my name or mailing address has changed?
  • Who is required to have a ticket for entrance to the graduation ceremony?
    • Every guest,regardless of age, must have a ticket.
  • I know I will need my student ID in order to pick up my cap and gown. If I don't already have a student ID, who should I see?
    • You will need to stop by the LRC on the Caldwell Campus or by Student Services on the Watauga Campus.
  • What Program GPA must I have by the end of my graduating semester in order to graduate with honors?
    • A 3.5 program GPA (not cumulative GPA). The Honors cord is given out the night of graduation. * GPAs are not rounded
  • What program GPA must I have by the end of my graduating semester in order to graduate from CCC&TI?
    • A 2.0 program GPA is required. However, some Health Science programs require a higher program GPA for graduation.
  • Where will my degree/diploma/certificate be mailed?
    • It is mailed to the address on file in Student Services unless you specify a different mailing address on your graduation application.
  • What should I do if a guest of mine needs disability accommodations for the graduation ceremony?
    • Guest of graduates who may need accommodations due to a disability must contact Tuesday Sigmon at 828.726.2716 or at least two weeks prior to the graduation ceremony so appropriate accommodations may be made.
  • How do I leave a ticket for a guest to pick up the night of the ceremony?
    • Tickets may be placed in an envelope with the graduate's name and given to the individual stationed at the will call table.
