Meet Your 2017-2018 SGA Officers
President Sarah Estes
Sarah Estes is originally from Lenoir and is in her third year at CCC&TI. She is currently working toward her Associate in Arts degree and hopes to transfer to a four-year institution to study elementary education or social work. Estes says that she decided to get involved with SGA because she wanted more from the college experience than just attending classes. “I wanted to find a way to get more involved on campus and SGA was the best fit for me,” she said. She hopes that through her service as President of the SGA that she can help other students have a positive experience at CCC&TI. “I want to make sure that students have the best time they can while here at CCC&TI,” she said. “When the students are happy and thriving, it makes for a better institution.” In addition to SGA, Estes is also serving as Vice President of CCC&TI’s chapter of the National Society of Leadership and Success and is involved with TRIO Student Support Services and the Ambassadors. Estes says she passionate about history and also enjoys gem mining and collecting gemstones.
Vice President Tynsley Gilchrist
Tynsley Gilchrist is originally from Lenoir and is currently a 5th Year student in the Caldwell Early College High School program located on CCC&TI’s Caldwell Campus. She is working toward her Associates Degree and plans to transfer to a four-year institution after completing her studies at CCC&TI. Gilchrist says she decided to get involved with SGA because she loves to serve others and gain leadership experience for herself. “I love being involved. I am always seeking opportunities to evoke positive change and better myself as a leader and a servant,” she said. As Vice President, Gilchrist says she wants to help ensure that CCC&TI students have the best experience possible. “I hope that I can strengthen our college and that students will be pleased with their education experience.” In addition to her service to SGA, Gilchrist is also involved with the Global Scholars Club, the Ambassadors and the National Society of Leadership and Success. Gilchrist is also a Hospice Volunteer, plays piano and sings and is active in the youth group at Yadkin Valley Baptist Church.
Treasurer Calistia Gragg
Calistia Gragg is a Lenoir native enrolled in CCC&TI’s Medical Office Administration Program. Her goal is to eventually earn a nursing degree and work in the local health care field serving senior adults. Gragg says that she decided to get involved with SGA because she was interested in leadership experience. “I wanted to do more than just come to class, do my assignments, and go home.” Gragg she hopes to use her position with SGA to encourage other students to get involved with the college and the community at large. “I want to be able to have students connect with the community around them to see all the opportunities that can be presented to them.” In addition to SGA, Gragg is also serving as the 2017-2018 President of CCC&TI’s chapter of the National Society of Leadership and Success. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, fishing, travelling and spending quality time with family.
