Student Perceptions about Writing

During the initial planning phases of the QEP, CCC&TI sought student input via several student groups including the Business Club and Student Support Services (SSS), a federal TRIO program serving low-income/first-generation students. Both groups felt strongly about the need for dedicated writing centers staffed with professionals who would would work with instructors to understand writing assignments and could handle students patiently.

The 2005 Community College Survey of Student Engagement (CCSSE) also helped the QEP gain a better understanding about our students perceptions of writing at our institution. CCC&TI student responses were compared with student responses from across the nation.
