The Caldwell Cobras baseball team won their fourteenth game in a row, defeating Patrick & Henry 9-1 in eight innings Tuesday at historic Walker Stadium in Lenoir.
Luke Maicon picked up the win on the mound, pitching six innings and allowing no runs while surrendering only two hits and striking out five.
Dalton Stikeleather led the Cobras offensive attack, collecting an RBI single in the second inning and another RBI single in the seventh inning. Steven Smith had the Cobras only homerun of the game, a solo shot in the bottom of the first inning to give Caldwell an early 1-0 lead.
Trailing 4-0 in the top of the seventh inning, Patrick & Henry got their lone run of the game on a solo homerun by Johnboy Rittenhouse. The Patriots saw their eight game winning streak come to an end with the loss.
