Pitcher Isabelle Curry struck out 11 Florence-Darlington batters and hit a solo homerun, as Caldwell won 9-1 via the mercy rule to win the first game of Sunday's doubleheader. Out of Caldwell's nine hits in the game, three were homeruns and two were doubles. Christa Walsh had a homerun and double on her way to collecting three RBI. The victory snapped a five-game losing streak for the Cobras.

Game Recap:

Caldwell withstood a late-inning rally by Florence-Darlington to hang on for a 3-2 victory and doubleheader sweep of the Stingers in Lenoir on Sunday.

Trailing 3-1 heading into the final seventh inning, Florence_Darlington got a one out RBI single by Kylie Johnson to draw within one run. The Stingers with have runners on the corners with two outs before grounding out to end the game.

The Cobras' Kaylee Redwine hit a solo homerun to put Caldwell ahead 1-0 in the bottom of the third inning. After Florence-Darlington tied the game in the top of the fifth inning on a RBI single by Johnson, Sydney Ferguson's RBI single in the bottom half of the inning gave the Cobras a one run lead. They would add an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth inning on a sacrifice fly RBI by Regan Winkler.

The victory secured Caldwell's second doubleheader sweep of a NJCAA Division One opponent this season.
