The Caldwell Cobras opened Region 10 Division Three play with a 10-6 victory over the Surry Knights in Dobson, NC on Friday afternoon.
Caldwell got out to an early lead when the Cobras scored two runs in each of the first two innings. In the first inning, Jacob Bebber hit a two RBI home run. In the second inning, Bo Davidson's two-out RBI single plated two more runs for Caldwell, making the score 4-0.
Leading 5-2 in the top of the sixth inning, Garrison Burress hit a solo home run to put the Cobra advantage back at four runs at 6-2.
Caldwell scored three runs in the eighth inning. The offensive onslaught was led by Hayden Setzer and Breon Ishmael, all driving in runs in the frame.
Walker Pedante picked up the win on the mound, surrendering four runs on six hits over five innings, striking out ten. Bradley Jordan threw four innings in relief out of the bullpen. Jordan recorded the last 12 outs to earn the save for Caldwell, who improved to 9-2 with the victory.

Caldwell score three runs in the top of the seventh inning at Surry to win the game 8-5 and sweep the doubleheader Friday afternoon.
With the game tied 5-5 entering the seventh inning, Caldwell got four singles and a sacrifice bunt to retake the lead. Breon Ishmael and Dalton Stikeleather each had RBI singles in the final frame with the Cobras' other run coming via a sacrifice bunt by JT Fecteau.
Steven Setzer came in from the bullpen to collect the save. He retired Surry in order in the bottom of the seventh, two via strikeouts.
Caldwell appeared to put the game away in the top of the fourth. With a 2-1 lead, Hayden Setzer got an RBI single, followed by a Jacob Bebber two RBI homerun, and Caldwell led 5-1. However, Surry would score four runs with two outs in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game.
Max Mull entered the game in the fifth inning and held Surry scoreless for two innings. He was credited with the win on the mound.

Game three of the weekend series, scheduled for Sunday at Walker Stadium in Lenoir, has been postponed due
to rain and field conditions. The make-up date is to be determined.
Caldwell travels to Cleveland on Wednesday, March 1 for a 3 p.m. start.
Surry will travel to Gaston on Wednesday for a 3 p.m. pitch.
