Game Recap:

Caldwell scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, enroute to a 6-3 come-from-behind victory over the visiting Morton College Panthers of Illinois in game one of a doubleheader Sunday.

Trailing 2-0 with one out in the bottom of the sixth and two runners on base, the Cobras' Regan Winkler doubled to center field to plate Caldwell's first run of the game. Isabelle Curry then followed with a double to score another run and tie the game. Caldwell then got their third double of the inning when Skylar Banks doubled to left field, collecting two RBI and giving Caldwell a 4-2 lead. The Cobras would add an unearned run and an RBI single from Kaylee Redwine to give Caldwell a 6-2 cushion heading to the bottom of the seventh.

Curry also got the complete game victory in the circle, striking out 12 while only allowing three runs.

Game Recap:

Caldwell's bid for a come-from-behind victory and doubleheader sweep fell short on Sunday, as Morton College (Illinois) hung on to defeat the Cobras 8-7 Sunday afternoon at the Lenoir Optimist Park.

Trailing 8-3 coming into their final at-bat, Skylar Banks got the Cobra offense going with a solo homerun. Later in the inning, Christa Walsh hit a one out, RBI double to cut the Morton advantage to 8-5. Zoey Boston would follow with a two RBI double as the Cobras cut the lead to one run at 8-7. After a pop out for the second out, Kaylee Reid would single to give Caldwell runners at first and third. However, Morton pitcher Kennedi Meinecke would record her fourth strikeout and secure the win for the visiting Wildcats.

Walsh finished the game going 3-4 with a double, homerun, and four RBI.

Caldwell will travel Friday, February 24 to Danville, VA for two games in the Patrick and Henry Invitational JUCO Jamboree.
In game one at 11:30 a.m., Caldwell will face Corning, who was the preseason number one ranked team in NJCAA D-3. It will be Corning's first game.
In game two at 2 p.m., the Cobras will take on Louisburg, ranked eleventh in the preseason in NJCAA D-2.
