CCC&TI Launches New BioWork Course

Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute is launching a 21-week training course designed to prepare workers for entry-level jobs in some of the area’s fastest growing sectors.

The BioWork Process Technician course is designed to provide basic preparation for entry-level process technician jobs in bioprocess manufacturing, pharmaceutical manufacturing and chemical manufacturing. The course will include:

• Controlling the process
• Growing living cells
• Maintaining sterile processes
• Measuring process variables
• Process technology (including processing equipment and plant utilities)
• Quality processes
• Safety
• Transforming matter
• Understanding the role of a process technician

The first BioWork Process Technician course will be offered Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., from Aug. 3 to Dec. 21 on the Caldwell Campus in Hudson. The course will combine classroom lecture and hands-on lab activities.

Tuition for the class is $182, plus $80 for the textbook. Scholarships and grants are available to cover the costs for students who qualify.
