Upcoming Music Program Concerts

Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute’s Associate Degree Fine Arts-Music Program will present Faculty member and solo guitarist David Smith in concert on Wednesday, April 5 at 1 p.m. on the college’s Watauga Campus in Boone. The concert is free and open to the public.

Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute’s Associate Degree Fine Arts-Music Program will host the Music Faculty Guitar Quartet Concert on Wednesday, April 12 in room B-100 on the Caldwell Campus. The concert begins at 1 p.m. and is free and open to the public. The concert will feature CCC&TI Music Faculty members Justin Butler, Paul Holt, David Smith and Robert Steadman.

Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute’s Associate Degree Fine Arts-Music Program will present the CCC&TI Chorus in concert on Tuesday, May 2 at 12:15 p.m. in B-100 on college’s Caldwell Campus in Hudson. The Chorus will present an encore performance on Thursday, May 4 at St. James Episcopal Church located at 806 College Ave SW in Lenoir. Both concerts are free and open to the public.

Summer and Fall Semester Registration for New Students

Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute will begin registering new students for Summer 2017 and Fall 2017 semesters on April 6 on both the Caldwell and Watauga Campuses. Final registration for Summer classes is May 16 and classes begin on Thursday, May 18. Final Registration for Fall 2017 Semester will be held Wednesday, Aug. 4. Fall classes begin on Monday, August 14. Caldwell ServSafe Course

Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute’s Department of Continuing Education and Workforce Development will offer the ServSafe Prep course on the college’s Caldwell Campus in Hudson. The class will be held on Saturday, May 6 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Cost of the course is $107. Students must also purchase the ServSafe Course Book (6th Edition) for use during the class. This course introduces the basic principles of sanitation and safety relative to the restaurant and hospitality industry. Topics include personal hygiene, sanitation and safety regulations, use and care of equipment, the principles of food-borne illness and other related topics. Watauga Campus Nurse Aide

Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute’s Department of Continuing Education and Workforce Development on the Watauga Campus in Boone is offering Nurse Aide I. The Nurse Aide I course prepares students to provide personal care and perform basic nursing skills for patients in a variety of healthcare settings. The course runs from May 11 to June 29 and class is held Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Cost of the class is $184. Notary Public

Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute’s Department of Continuing Education and Workforce Development will offer the 6-hour Notary Public course this Spring on both the Caldwell and Watauga Campuses. The course provides individuals the opportunity to become or renew their standing as a Notary with the state of North Carolina and meets the state guidelines for instruction. This class will be offered on Thursday, May 4 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the Caldwell Campus and on Monday, May 8 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the Watauga Campus. Cost of the class is $71. Phlebotomy

Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute’s Department of Continuing Education and Workforce Development will offer Phlebotomy this Spring on both the Caldwell and Watauga Campuses. This course prepares students to draw blood specimens from patients/clients for analysis. Curriculum includes the proper selection of venipuncture sites, correct order of draw, use and care of collection tubes, proper collection of blood specimens, data entry, communication skills, as well as clerical duties associated with record keeping and equipment maintenance. This class will be offered on the Caldwell Campus from May 10 to Oct. 15. Class is held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. On the Watauga Campus, the class will run from May 15 to Oct. 15 and meet Monday through Thursdays from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Cost of the course is $184. Manicurist

Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute’s Department of Continuing Education and Workforce Development will offer the Manicurist course from May 15 to Sept. 14. The class will meet from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday on the Caldwell Campus in Hudson. Topics studied during the course include professional image, manicuring and pedicuring, bacteriology, sanitation and disinfecting, nail product chemistry, anatomy and physiology, OSHA safety regulations, disorders of the nail, acrylic nails, nail wraps, gel nails, silk wraps, nail art, nail enhancements, nail piercing, nail jewelry and nail appliqués. Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be eligible to sit for licensure through the North Carolina Board of Cosmetic Art Examiners. Cost of the course is $307. Cost does not include the cost of supplies, uniforms or textbooks.

Caldwell Is Hiring set for May 18

The next installment of Caldwell Is Hiring, the successful community effort to bring together employers and jobseekers for a one-day event, has been scheduled for 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Thursday, May 18 at the J.E. Broyhill Civic Center in Lenoir.

The event is sponsored by the Caldwell County Economic Development Commission, NCWorks and Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute.
