Now Enrolling: Basic Law Enforcement Training

CCC&TI is now accepting applications for the 2018 Spring Basic Law Enforcement Training Academy. Classes will run Jan. 8, 2018 to May 10, 2018. Application deadline is Dec. 20, 2017. CCC&TI SGA Presents “Creepy Caldwell” Festival and Trail

Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute’s Student Government Association is hosting a Creepy Caldwell Festival and Trail on Friday, Oct. 27 and Saturday, Oct. 28. Festival hours are 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. each evening. Activities include a bounce house, trunk or treat, face painting, games, story time and more. The PG-13 Creepy Trail will be open from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. each evening. Cost for the trail is $1 for CCC&TI students with CCC&TI ID and $5 for all others. All proceeds from the festival and the trail support CCC&TI student clubs.

Upcoming Caldwell Cuisine Event:
The Caribbean – Haiti, Trinidad, Jamaica and Dominican Republic

Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute’s Culinary Arts program will host the next installment of Caldwell Cuisine on Thursday, Nov. 16. The meal will be served at 6 p.m. at the J.E. Broyhill Civic Center in Lenoir and is priced at $21 plus tax per person. The event is open to the public, but diners are required to purchase tickets prior to the event. The theme for the event is The Caribbean. Following is the menu: Starter: Sos Pwa (Haitian Black Bean Soup Savory soup with island spices and rice) Entrée: Choice of Jamaican Oxtail Stew (Butter beans, thyme, garlic, onion and chili. Served with coconut rice) Or Trinidad Pelau (Traditional one pot dish, caramelized chicken, garlic, onion, beans, jasmine rice and fresh vegetables. Served with watercress salad) Dessert: Bizcocho Dominicano (traditional Dominican cake that’s light and airy. Served with pineapple marmalade)

Upcoming Watauga Carry Out Cuisine

Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute’s Watauga Campus Culinary Arts program will offer the next “Carry Out Cuisine” on Thursday, Nov. 2. Meals are prepared by second-year students in the Global Cuisine Class. Meals are $20 per person and reservations are recommended. Cash only payments are accepted when meals are picked up on the day of service. Pick up times are 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Watauga Campus Kitchen, Building W141, Room 102. The October meal will feature South American cuisine.

Arepa and Ensalad de Quinua con Frijoles Negros Y Choclo (Quinoa Salad with Black Beans)
Arroz con Pato (Braised Duck with Cilantro Rice)
Cauve a Mineira (Kale Greens) and
Flan (Caramel Custard)

Free Small Business Seminars in Caldwell and Watauga Counties

Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute’s Small Business Centers in Caldwell and Watauga Counties will offer a free workshop titled “Small Business Bootcamp” from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 18 and Wednesday Nov. 29 at the Caldwell County Chamber of Commerce in Lenoir. The course will be offered on Wednesday, Oct. 25 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Watauga Library in Boone. This course is geared toward those wanting to start their own business and is led by local entrepreneur David Waechter. The workshop covers the basics of getting your business off the ground and includes information on several topics including: How to name your business and why your business name is so important, registering your business with the Secretary of State, how to obtain your LLC, Sole Proprietorship, or Incorporation, how to find the proper tax forms, how to obtain your tax ID or your EIN (Employer Identification Number) from the IRS, how to set up a business checking account and credit card, how to find what licenses and permits you need to get started, renting a space, easy and cost-effective marketing, sales and service and bookkeeping. CCC&TI’s Small Business Center in Caldwell County will offer a free workshop titled “Small Business Startup Series: Marketing and Market Research” from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 8 at the Caldwell Chamber of Commerce in Lenoir. In this seminar, attendees will focus on the importance of market research and target market when developing a marketing plan. Learn how Marketing Mix decisions can be made using the 5 P's of Marketing. Attendees will also identify target market segments and develop a marketing strategy for a sample business using SWOT Analysis. The speaker for this workshop is Arlene Childers. CCC&TI Performing Artist Series presents “The Jason DeCristofaro Duo”

Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute’s Associate in Fine Arts – Music program will present The Jason DeCristofaro Duo in concert on Tuesday, Oct. 24 at 1 p.m. The concert will be held in the B-100 Theater on the Caldwell Campus in Hudson. The duo features Jason DeCristofaro on vibraphone and Kevin Kehrberg on bass. The concert, dubbed “A Journey from Classical to Jazz,” is free and open to the public.
