Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute’s Student Government Association (SGA) will host an American Red Cross Blood Drive on Friday, Sept. 29 in the Caldwell Campus gym from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The American Red Cross has indicated that blood donation is critical this Fall due to recent devastation caused by hurricanes Harvey and Irma. Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute’s Cosmetology students will hold a “Students for a Cure” fundraiser on Monday, Oct. 2 from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. in K Building on the Caldwell Campus in Hudson. Students will offer a variety of services including haircuts, shampoo styles, manicures and waxing in exchange for donations. All proceeds from the event will go to the local chapter of the Susan G. Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute will host a Community Wellness Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 5 at the J.E. Broyhill Civic Center in Lenoir. Faculty, staff and students from CCC&TI, along with the Caldwell County Health Department, Quest4Life and the West Caldwell Health Council, will provide a variety of services and demonstrations. Participants will have access to blood pressure checks, vision/glaucoma screenings, healthy snacks, CPR lessons, yoga demonstrations, hair/nail care tips, cholesterol screenings, flu shots and information on health care career training. Some services, including cholesterol screenings and flu shots, require payment or proof of health insurance. Participants wanting a cholesterol screening will have to fast 8 hours prior.
Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute’s Small Business Center is partnering with the Caldwell Chamber of Commerce and the region’s other Small Business Centers to present “Creating a Productive and Rewarding Workplace in Your Small Business” with best-selling author Dr. Gary Chapman. The event will be held on Thursday, Oct. 5 at 7 p.m. at the J.E. Broyhill Civic Center in Lenoir. Chapman is the author of the best-selling “Love Language” series. This workshop is based on the “5 Languages of Appreciation in the Workplace: Empowering Organizations by Encouraging People,” by Chapman and Paul White and will show participants how to apply the love language concept to the workplace. Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute’s Watauga Campus Culinary Arts program will offer the next “Carry Out Cuisine” on Thursday, Oct. 5. Meals are prepared by second-year students in the Global Cuisine Class. Meals are $20 per person and reservations are recommended. Cash only payments are accepted when meals are picked up on the day of service. Pick up times are 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the Watauga Campus Kitchen, Building W141, Room 102. Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute will host its 15th annual Golf Tournament on Friday, Oct. 13 at Cedar Rock Country Club in Lenoir. Lunch will be provided at 12 p.m. with a shotgun start to the tournament at 1 p.m. The format is Captain’s Choice and cash prizes will be awarded to the top three teams. Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute’s Associate in Fine Arts – Music program will present The Jason DeCristofaro Duo in concert on Tuesday, Oct. 24 at 1 p.m. The concert will be held in the B-100 Theater on the Caldwell Campus in Hudson. The duo features Jason DeCristofaro on vibraphone and Kevin Kehrberg on bass. The concert, dubbed “A Journey from Classical to Jazz,” is free and open to the public.

Broyhill Civic Center in Lenoir and is priced at $21 plus tax per person. The event is open to the public, but diners are required to purchase tickets prior to the event. Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute’s Student Government Association is hosting a Creepy Caldwell Festival and Trail on Friday, Oct. 27 and Saturday, Oct. 28. Festival hours are 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. each evening. Activities include a bounce house, trunk or treat, face painting, games, story time and more. The PG-13 Creepy Trail will be open from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. each evening. Cost for the trail is $1 for CCC&TI students with CCC&TI ID and $5 for all others. All proceeds from the festival and the trail support CCC&TI student clubs.
