CCC&TI student and basketball commit Caleigh Raby of Hudson has signed with Lenoir-Rhyne University Women's Basketball team this week. Raby is a 5-foot-9 guard who led South Caldwell High School in scoring as a senior, averaging 16.6 points per game. Though enrolled at CCC&TI, she had not joined the Lady Cobras this season. CCC&TI Athletic Director Matt Anderson said she will still have four years of eligibility when she joins the LRU squad.
"Caleigh is one of the hardest working student athletes I have ever seen and I couldn't be happier for her," Anderson said. "I hate that we never had the opportunity to see her in a Caldwell uniform but I am so happy we were able to help her meet her goals. Lenoir-Rhyne is a great institution and has one of the top Division II athletic programs in the country. They are getting a steal in Caleigh and she will definitely help them continue their athletic tradition, and take them to new heights."
Raby, who plans on studying Elementary Education, said she appreciates the opportunity and support offered by CCC&TI.
"I would like to thank Coach Matt Anderson and Coach Ty Johnson for all they have done for me throughout his process," she said. "Also, I would like to thank Coach Pate and the Lenoir-Rhyne coaching staff for believing in me and giving me an opportunity to continue my career. I am excited to be a Bear!"
