HRD Classes / KeyTrain & WorkKeys (Computer Literacy Lab)
Computers in the World of Work (HRD 7001)
This class is for those who have little or no experience using the computer. This class emphasizes the role of information technology in the world of work and enhances employability by teaching basic computer literacy skills.
Using Word in the Job Search (Beginning Word) (HRD 7004)
Learn the basics of the most widely used word processing software program offered by Microsoft. This class emphasizes the use of Microsoft Word to create a resume and cover letter.
Using Excel in the Job Search (Beginning Excel) (HRD 7016)
Learn the basics of the most widely used spreadsheet software program offered by Microsoft. This class emphasizes the use of Microsoft Excel to create a personal budget.
Keyboarding (HRD 7006)
Use the computer to learn the basic skills of touch-typing.
Presenting Yourself in PowerPoint (Beginning PowerPoint) (HRD 7027)
Learn the basics of the most popular presentation software offered by Microsoft. This class emphasizes the use of Microsoft PowerPoint to create a presentation that is appropriate for interviews.
Economic Literacy (HRD 3008)
This class is designed to cover cost cutting tips for anyone’s budget, including household and family expenses.
Employability Lab (HRD 3002)
This is a self-paced course where you may work through modules that cover topics such as resume writing, job searching, applications and interview techniques. Students will also be able to work on their keyboarding skills and job skills assessments (WorkKeys) through computer-based programs.
Employment Connections (HRD 7021)
This class is designed for dislocated workers, the unemployed and those who want to get a new job or start a new career. It will cover topics including, job search, applications, building workplace relationships, and communicating effectively.

The KeyTrain system includes targeted, self-paced instruction, pre- and post-assessments. These components can be used to help individuals learn, practice and demonstrate the skills they need to succeed in the jobs and careers they desire. The WorkKeys® Employment System is a comprehensive system for measuring, communicating and improving the common skills (e.g. Reading, Math, Locating Information) required for success in the workplace. WorkKeys identifies basic skills required to be successful in a given position or career.

- Unemployed
- Received notice of a pending layoff
