Scholarships Available by Application

Bill and Vivian Armfield Endowed Scholarship

Established by David and Amy Clark in honor of her parents, Bill and Vivian Armfield. Dr. Armfield was employed by CCC&TI in various capacities until his retirement in 1985. The funds will be for a high school graduate with a GPA of at least 2.5 who has financial need and plans to major in elementary education. Applications will be accepted by the Financial Aid Office and selection will be made by the Merit Scholarship committee.

Kenny Beane Scholarship

Established in 1998 by friends and family of Kenny Beane. The purpose of this scholarship is to assist students enrolled n a vocational certificate or diploma program. Recipient’s must demonstrate financial need, be a high school graduate or a second semester college student with a grade point average of 2.5 or better. Applications are available in the Industrial/Transportation Office or the Financial Aid Office.

Donna and Robert Belk Scholarship

Established in 2003 in memory of Donna Belk’s mother, Mrs. Charles Below and her aunts, Hilda Smith and Mildred Bell.  To honor their years of teaching and devotion to education, the scholarship will be presented to a 2nd year student who is enrolled in the college transfer program and has plans to transfer to a 4-year university to major in a teaching program.

G. Lewis Bernhardt Scholarship

To provide financial assistance on a yearly basis to enhance the ability of an Educational Talent Search student to continue his/her education.  The financial assistance may be in the form of scholarships, books, childcare, work/study, tutoring or other student aid as deemed necessary by the Educational Talent Search Director.  Applications are available from the ETS Director.

Hammary Furniture Company Sam Reid Scholarship

Established by Hammary to honor Sam Reid, a fifty-year employee, this scholarship is available to current Hammary employees, their spouses, and direct descendants, as well as to Mr. Reid's grandchildren. Applications are available in the Financial Aid Office or from the Personnel Office at Hammary Furniture Company.

J. Wade and Mary Sue Kincaid Memorial Scholarship

Established by Steve and Kim Kincaid in memory of Steve’s parents, J. Wade and Mary Sue Kincaid.  Scholarships will be awarded to students enrolled at CCC&TI (curriculum or non-curriculum) who are current Kincaid Furniture Company employees with over one year of service, spouses of eligible employees, retirees, or direct descendants of eligible employees or retirees. Non-curriculum courses must lead to specific employment opportunities. If funds are not sufficient to meet the tuition, fees, and books for all who apply, employees will be selected first, and then selection will be based on need. If no one applies that meets the criteria outlined above, the scholarship will be awarded to any student enrolled in a furniture technology course based on need as determined by the Dean of Corporate and Continuing Education. Applications are available at Kincaid Furniture Company in the Human Resources Office.

W. Michael Pearson Memorial Scholarship

Established in May 2000 by Marjorie H. Pearson in memory of W. Michael Pearson. This is designated for a yearly $1,000 merit scholarship for each of the three high schools in Caldwell County to attend CCC&TI. Scholarships may be used for tuition, fees, books, child care, transportation and other needs. Applications are available from any of the three high schools in Caldwell County through the guidance counselors office.

TRIO/SSS Alumni Scholarship

The TRIO/SSS Alumni Scholarship provides financial assistance each year to at least one current TRIO/SSS participant to continue his/her education at CCC&TI.  The financial assistance may be used for tuition, books, supplies, transportation, and/or any other student need.  Any TRIO/SSS student may apply.  The scholarship was established in 2005 by the TRIO/SSS Alumni Group, whose purpose is "to capture energy and talent of TRIO/SSS graduates for the benefit of TRIO/SSS students--past, present, future."

Thad and Reva Tunmire Truck Driving Scholarship

Established January 2000 in honor of Thad and Reva Tunmire. Awarded to students enrolled in the Truck Driving Program at CCC&TI. Maximum amount per student $200. Applications are available in the Industrial/ Transportation Office or the Financial Aid Office.

Vocational Incentive Scholarship

Established April 2000 by the Board of Directors of the Foundation of CCC&TI. Scholarships will be awarded to full-time and/or part-time students. A student must be beginning study in a technical field that is assigned to the Industrial / Transportation Department and must be pursuing a Certificate, Diploma, or AAS Degree. The Industrial / Transportation Scholarship Committee, in accordance with current by-laws, will award this scholarship.  The award is not perpetual and must be designated to a specific semester. Applications are available in the Industrial/Transportation Office.

Watauga Nursing Scholarship

Created through a fund-raising drive in 1990, this fund is to be used for a Watauga County resident who is enrolled in the nursing program. Check with the Financial Aid Office for application information.

James Douglas Weiller Scholarship

Established December 2000 by Barbara and Don Weiller and Mia Weiller in memory of James Douglas Weiller. This is designated as an annual scholarship based on need as determined by the scholarship committee for non-traditional students (25 years old and older) enrolled in the Truck Driver Training Certificate Program at CCC&TI. If there are no applications from a non-traditional student, the scholarship committee is authorized to award the scholarship to another student in the Truck Driver Training Program. Applications are available in the Industrial/Transportation Office.
