Financial Aid - Private Loans

Private Education Loans

Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute no longer participates in the Federal Direct Student Loan Program (federal subsidized and unsubsidized loans).

Students have the option to apply for a private education loan from their choice of lenders. CCC&TI does not have a preferred lender list. It is the students responsibility to research private loan lenders.

College Foundation of North Carolina offers a Guide to Responsible Borrowing that can be helpful when making the decision to borrow. Maintaining a thorough understanding of Delinquency and Default is an essential part of the borrowing process.

Students are strongly encouraged to compare interest rates, repayment terms, eligibility criteria, co-signer requirements, grace period information, and other borrower benefits that may be available.

Processing Private Loans

The CCC&TI Office of Financial Aid will certify enrollment with the lender and process the loan funds. Private education loan funds are sent directly to the college. Charges for books, fees, and tuition are deducted from the loan funds. Remaining proceeds from loan funds will be disbursed to students via check. All checks are mailed to the address on record with the college. Students can update their address by completing and submitting the Permanent Record Change Form.

Home Foreclosure Prevention

Students concerned about foreclosure on their homes due to job loss or certain other hardships may qualify for mortgage help while in school and looking for work.
