English Language Acquisition (ELA)

English Language Acquisition (ELA)

What is ELA?

ELA (English Language Acquisition) classes are for non-native students who need to learn to speak, read, or write English.

Why should I Choose ELA?

ELA classes help students learn English or improve English skills, and the classes are free! ELA students may also participate in job training classes, learn workforce preparation skills, and study for U.S. Citizenship.

Who is eligible?

Adults who want to improve their English skills are eligible. No documentation is required for the ELA classes.

When and where are classes offered?

The class schedule changes due to demand, but classes are generally available mornings and evenings, on-campus and at off-campus locations. For a current class schedule, please call 828.726.2230.

How do I enroll?

All ELA students must attend a free assessment session before enrolling in a class. Students will meet with an advisor and complete a reading assessment. For questions, please call 828.726.2230 (Caldwell) or 828.297.8120 (Watauga).

Please note: CCC&TI's campuses are located in Western North Carolina.
