ELA (English Language Acquisition) classes are for non-native students who need to learn to speak, read, or write English.
All ELA students must attend a free assessment session before enrolling in a class. New students will meet with the program director or instructor and complete a reading assessment. For questions, please call 828.726.2230 (Caldwell) or 828.297.5253 (Watauga).
For classes on the Caldwell Campus, registration is possible each week, on Wednesdays from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
For registration information, please contact Melissa Darling at 828.726.2246.
At Watauga CCR - Adult Education, registration is possible on Mondays at 9:30 am.
For registration information, please contact the Watauga College and Career Readiness Department at 828.297.5253.
Minors 16 – 17 years of age must have a completed Minor Permission Form prior to enrolling in any Adult Education program, assessment activity, or class. Students can either pickup the Minor Permission Form in person at the Adult Education department or call 828.726.2230 (Caldwell) or 828-297-5253 (Watauga) and have the form mailed. Instructions for completing the form are attached to it, but if there are questions, please call 828.726.2230 or 828.297-5253 and someone will be glad to assist with the form.
