This 1060 hour course is designed to train individuals to provide advanced emergency medical care in the pre-hospital setting.

Accreditation

The Emergency Medical Services – Paramedic program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (www.caahep.org) upon the recommendation of Committee on Accreditation of Educational Program for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP). Program goals and objectives for our program are as follows, “To prepare competent entry-level Paramedics in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains with or without exit points at the Advanced Emergency Medical Technician and/or Emergency Medical Technician, and/or Emergency Medical Responder levels."

Program Content

The course is divided between 600 hours didactic, which includes time for classroom, lab, written and practical skills examinations and review. 300 hours field internship with an EMS agency and 100 hours clinical education at a hospital. Coursework provides students with basic essential knowledge and skills required to work as an EMT Paramedic.

Admission Requirements

Pre-Requisites:

  • Successful completion of EMT-Basic Certification
  • Possession of a high school diploma or high school equivalency
  • Successful completion of an entrance exam assessing basic reading comprehension and English language writing skills on a post-secondary level
  • Demonstration of mathematical skills at a minimum at the post-secondary grade level
